Valencia’s Mayoress, Rita Barberá, visited the ESA’s Valencian laboratory’s   installations. The Mayoress was shown around the new facilities of the City of Innovation accompanied by Alberto Fabra, President of Valencia’s regional government, Juan Julia, Chancellor of Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, Chancellor of the Universitat de València and Beatriz Simón, Councillor of Innovation, paying particular attention to the laboratory.

The laboratory’s transfer to our city was possible thanks to a common agreement between the administrations and the public universities of Valencia which established the VAL SPACE CONSORTIUM (VSC) in March 2010. The laboratory explores high power radio frequency. It is specialized in two main functions: prompt response to failures and malfunctions of satellites’ microwave circuits and spacecrafts, and secondly the standardization of all the elements the European Space Agency sends into space.

The laboratory is located at the City of Innovation, a city of 40.000 square meters, which hosts institutes and technology centres as well as R & D laboratories.
