The Lord Mayor of Valencia, Ms. Rita Barberá Nolla, has been a member of the Committee of the Regions since it was created in 1994.

In 2009, the President Luc Van Der Brande awarded her a medal for being an active member for this body’s first 15 years and giving a voice to the cities and regions of Europe, and for the work she has done over this time.
