Valencia participates in different projects financed by the European Union in different subject fields. The purpose of this participation is to exchange knowledge and experience with different European cities with the ultimate goal of improving citizens’ quality of life.
Valencia City Council’s Employment Department participated in this project in the context of the Leonardo Da Vinci programme to carry out practical training for 15 youths from the city of Valencia with the aim of providing them with their first work experience.The project finished in july 2010.
Employment and Entrepreneurship Promotion Project Department
Financed within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP), the participation of employees of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Promotion Project, was facilitated in two study visits to Rzeszow (Poland) and Asti (Italy) in October 2010 to interchange knowledge and experience on the subject of entrepreneurial training. The professionals who took part in these study visits came from different countries such as Italy, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, Iceland and Great Britain.The project finished in october 2010.
Employment and Entrepreneurship Promotion Project Department
The Valencia Local Police is participated in this project within the community-financed Prevention of and Fight against Crime Programme, which will lasted 2 years and aimed to study troubled areas and districts of their cities (hot spots) and to detect the predominant type of delinquency, analysing the associated problems. This project enabled safe areas (safelands) to be created where activities could be provided such as seminars, training in personal defence, etc., for the citizens, while at the same time mediators such as our Policía de Barrio (District Police) were trained. Together with this, safe schools were created through training activities on school bullying and the drawing up of fast intervention guides for mediators.
The project went from september,2009 until february, 2012.
The Project “Innovative Strategies for Relapse Prevention through the Improvement of Skills and Qualifications” (within the framework of The Lifelong Learning Programme 2007 – 2013 – Grundtvig), aimed to develop educational content for local police officers and penitentiary agents whose tasks include the prevention and reintegration into society of marginal people taking into account devolution of responsibilities between both agents when convicts are reintegrated into society. The project started on January 2010 and ended on February 2012. Other partners that collaborated in this project were: the Valencian Local Police, the European Forum for Urban Security (Paris, France), the Göttingen City Council (Germany), the CAST Association of Turin (Italy), Le Havre City Council (France), the Brasov Local Police (Romania), Opaya City Council (The Czech Republic) and the Belfast City Council (UK).
Valencia’s Local Police headed this project in the context of the Aprendizaje Permanente (Ongoing Learning) programme. Its aim was to develop strategies for police approachability and image, as well as improving relations between police and citizens. As well as Valencia’s Local Police, the following forces were also participating in this project: the West Mercia Police Authority (Worcester, U.K.), the Brabant Police (Eindhoven, Holland), the Kedainiai Police (Kedainiai, Lithuania) and the Italian State Police (Rome, Italy).The project finished in July 2011.
Within the MED-PACT programme (a partnership programme between local Mediterranean authorities), Valencia City Council collaborated with the Strategies and Development Centre (CEyD) in this project, which was headed by the city of Catania. The project aimed to promote sustainable local development in Mediterranean and Southern European countries by lending technical assistance to these countries in the field of Urban Strategic Planning. The project finished in August 2010.
This programme allowed young people (between 18 and 30 years) from all Member States of the European Union to register in the office which corresponds to the region they come from and to consult the job offers of other member countries. The participants attended an intensive language course in the receiving country before they can sign a contract. The project has made possible the incorporation of a French person in the Employment and Promotion Service for Entrepreneurial Projects of the Valencia City Council, where she was worked on entrepreneurial projects since November 2010 until October 2011.

Patch Project was funded by the Civil Protection Financial Instrument Programme and aimed to develop a system for the prevention and protection of cultural heritage from damages caused by earthquakes. Therefore, researches, guides and training were implemented in order to improve the effectiveness of cultural heritage’s protection and rescue. The project‘s schedule started on January 2010 and ended on December 2011.
The project was composed for the following partners: Valencia Local Police, Vila Montesca Research and Training Centre (Città di Castello, Italy), Papal Basilica of San Franceso d’Assisi (Italy), University of Crete – Natural History Museum of Crete (Greece), Municipalty of Agios Athanasios (Cyprus), the Province of Perugia (Italy), Consorci de La Ribera (Spain), Municipalty of Herklion (Greece).
In order to develop efficient strategies and sustainable activities to promote young people’s potential and their connections with local communities, the education sector and entrepreneurs, the Delegación de Juventud (Youth Department) participated in this project, which is headed by the city of Rotterdam within the Urbact II programme. The project finished in March 2011.
This project aimed to protect the environment and promote sustainable development through prevention and by tackling natural risks. The Concejalía de Innovación (innovation department) participated in the project, also in collaboration with FIVEC, and the project was financed by the MED 2007-2013 programme. The programme ended in november, 2011.
