5th World Meeting of Families
Visit from His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI
The visit by Pope Benedict XVI for the 5th World Meeting of Families in 2006 was a multitudinous event with visitors and families from all over the world. The parks and gardens of the old River Túria’s bed were the main site, with the altar located in the City of Arts and Sciences. Families from all over the world were able to enjoy the multitudinous homily held by the Holy Father.

The Festival Mostra de Valencia Cinema del Mediterrani (Valencia Mediterranean film festival) has begun a new era with important changes in its contents and the firm intention of positioning itself among the top cinematographic events held in our country. Valencia will continue to internationally promote films from Mediterranean countries, although the international film market will be more and more present, positioning the city as a point of reference in the world of cinema.

This is an event full of daring proposals and frenzied discoveries whose agenda is based on contemporary works, new drama and extreme stage experiences. Since 1999, the Centro Coreográfico de Teatres de la Generalitat Valenciana (the Valencia regional government’s Theatre Choreography Centre) has been responsible for organising Festival Dansa València. Every year this turns our city into the world focal point for dance, thanks to the extensive and varied agenda and the great many professionals that give performances. The Festival takes place in April and May.

Since 1997, Valencia has been host to the Campus Party, the biggest digital network event for technology, creativity, leisure and culture in the world.
