The city of Valencia has welcomed between September 8th and 10th the participants of the 9th ESPAnet Conference (the Network for European Social Policy Analysis).

The event, under the title "Sustainability and transformation of European Social Policy”, has brought together more than 250 European researchers and experts in Social Policy, who have discussed among a vast array of 21 subject areas, how governance, citizenship, social benefits, political ideologies and today’s budgets of social policies, operate on sustainability and on the long-term maintenance of the social protection systems in Europe; and, all of this, paying special attention on the particular economic and social circumstances we are going through.

The Network for European Social Policy Analysis ESPAnet was established in 2002 to facilitate a co-operation among social policy analysts in Europe and to provide a forum and a network of communication for the development of European social policy analysis as a field of research and teaching. The Annual Conferences of ESPAnet are usually held on September, and this is the first time that our country hosts this event.
